Tour Plan

DAY 1 KILIMANJARO WATERFALL EXPERIENCE TO KARATU.

Your safari begins with a warm welcome from your private professional safari guide, who will meet you at the agreed starting point and accompany you towards the lush foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. As you leave the surrounding towns behind, the landscape gradually transforms into fertile farmland, coffee plantations, banana groves and small villages, offering a beautiful introduction to the diverse landscapes of Northern Tanzania.

The walk offers an opportunity to experience the quieter side of northern Tanzania, away from the main safari routes. Along the way, your local guide will introduce you to the surrounding vegetation, local agriculture and the communities that have developed around the fertile slopes of Kilimanjaro.

Reach the waterfall and take time to enjoy the peaceful setting, photograph the scenery and, where conditions permit, refresh yourself near the water. The experience is intentionally relaxed, allowing you to appreciate the landscape rather than rushing from one activity to another.

After the visit, enjoy lunch before continuing towards Karatu, passing through changing landscapes as you make your way towards to your lodge/ camp.

Arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon and settle in. The evening is yours to relax, enjoy the lodge's surroundings and prepare for the safari adventures ahead.

Meals: Lunch, Dinner and Drinking Water

DAY 2 TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, depart Karatu with your private safari guide and travel towards Tarangire National Park for a full day of wildlife exploration.

As you enter the park, the scenery changes to vast golden plains, acacia woodland and the enormous baobab trees that have become synonymous with Tarangire. The park is particularly famous for its elephant population and offers excellent opportunities to observe these magnificent animals in their natural environment.

Your morning game drive takes you through different habitats in search of elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo and numerous species of antelope. Your guide will carefully read the landscape and wildlife activity, selecting routes that provide the best opportunities for sightings while allowing time to appreciate the scenery.

Tarangire is also home to a variety of predators, and your guide will keep a careful eye on the plains and woodland for lions, hyenas and other signs of carnivore activity.

Around midday, stop at a designated picnic area for lunch before continuing your game drive.

The afternoon offers another perspective of the park as the light becomes warmer and wildlife activity begins to increase. Spend time watching elephant families moving through the woodland or herds crossing the open plains, with the dramatic baobabs providing a memorable backdrop.

Later in the afternoon, leave Tarangire and drive back towards Karatu.

Arrive at your lodge in the evening for dinner and a well-earned rest after a full day in the bush.

Meals: Breakfast, Picnic Lunch, Dinner and Drinking Water

DAY 3 LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, depart Karatu for Lake Manyara National Park, located beneath the dramatic escarpment of the Great Rift Valley.

The park offers a striking change of scenery from Tarangire. Enter through lush groundwater forest where large fig and mahogany trees create a cool, green environment. Baboons can often be seen along the roadsides, while elephants, giraffes, buffalo and other wildlife move between the forest and open habitats.

Continue towards the lake and explore the park's varied landscapes on a game drive with your safari guide.

As you approach the lakeshore, the forest gradually opens into grassland and wetland habitats. Depending on the season and water levels, the area can attract large numbers of birds and other wildlife.

Your guide will search for the park's resident wildlife while also watching the trees and woodland edges for the famous tree-climbing lions associated with Lake Manyara.

Enjoy a picnic lunch during the day's exploration before continuing your afternoon game drive.

As daylight begins to fade, return to the appropriate meeting point for your evening arrangements and prepare for a completely different experience.

Lake Manyara After Dark

Once night falls, embark on your authorized night game drive.

The familiar landscape changes dramatically after sunset. With the assistance of the appropriate night-drive team and ranger arrangements, explore the wilderness after dark and look for nocturnal species that are rarely encountered during a daytime safari.

Your spotlight may reveal bush babies, genets, civets, porcupines, hares and other nocturnal creatures moving through the darkness. The sounds of the bush become an important part of the experience as frogs call from the wetlands and nocturnal animals emerge from their hiding places.

The night drive offers a completely different perspective on Lake Manyara, complementing the daytime wildlife experience rather than simply repeating it.

After the activity, return to Karatu for dinner and overnight.

Meals: Breakfast, Picnic Lunch & Dinner
Accommodation: Marera Valley Lodge

DAY 4 LAKE EYASI TO NGORONGORO

After breakfast, leave Karatu and travel towards Lake Eyasi, a remote and culturally fascinating region lying southwest of the Ngorongoro highlands.

Today's experience offers a change of pace from the previous days of wildlife viewing. Rather than observing animals from a safari vehicle, you will have the opportunity to meet members of the Hadzabe community and learn about a traditional way of life closely connected to the surrounding environment.

With the assistance of a local community guide and interpreter, spend time learning about Hadzabe traditions, their relationship with the land and the knowledge passed from one generation to another.

Depending on the activities taking place within the community on the day of your visit, the experience may include an introduction to traditional hunting and gathering practices, local plant knowledge, music, dance or aspects of everyday life. The experience is designed as a respectful cultural exchange, giving guests the opportunity to listen, ask questions and understand the community from its own perspective.

After the visit, enjoy lunch before continuing towards the Ngorongoro highlands.

As you approach Ngorongoro, the landscape changes once again. The air becomes cooler and the terrain rises into rolling volcanic highlands.

Arrive at your lodge in the afternoon and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure. Take in the surrounding scenery, relax after the cultural experience and prepare for tomorrow's final safari adventure.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Drinking Water
Accommodation: Ngorongoro Safari Lodge

DAY 5 NGORONGORO CRATER TO ARUSHA

Wake early and enjoy breakfast before setting out with your private safari guide towards the Ngorongoro Crater.

The morning begins with the descent from the crater rim, where the spectacular landscape gradually opens beneath you. From the forested slopes, the vast crater floor comes into view—a remarkable expanse of grasslands, wetlands and woodland surrounded by the dramatic walls of the ancient volcanic caldera.

Once on the crater floor, begin your final game drive.

Ngorongoro is renowned for its extraordinary concentration of wildlife, and your guide will explore the different habitats in search of lions, elephants, buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, gazelles, hyenas and hippos. The open grasslands provide particularly good opportunities to observe predators and large herds, while the wetlands attract hippos and an abundance of birdlife.

Your guide will also keep a careful lookout for the endangered black rhinoceros, one of the most memorable wildlife encounters possible within the crater. Rather than rushing through the crater, your guide will allow time to stop and observe wildlife behaviour, photograph the landscape and appreciate the unique setting.

Enjoy a picnic lunch at a designated location before continuing with your final exploration of the crater.

Later in the afternoon, begin the ascent from the crater floor and continue towards Arusha, bringing your five-day journey to a close.

The journey back provides a final opportunity to reflect on the remarkable variety of experiences encountered—from the waterfalls and fertile slopes of Kilimanjaro to Tarangire's elephants, Lake Manyara after dark, the traditions of the Hadzabe and the wildlife-filled floor of Ngorongoro.
