Tour Plan

Day 1: Arrival in Moshi Moshi

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport or Arusha Airport, if you have opted for the optional airport transfers, our team will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Moshi.

Pre-trek Briefing: You should aim to arrive at least one day prior to the start of the trek. Today, we will conduct a pre-trek briefing at your hotel in Moshi. During this session, we will review the trek itinerary, discuss safety protocols, and ensure all necessary equipment is in order. Any required equipment can also be rented at this time.

Day 2: Moshi to Mandara Hut Mount Kilimanjaro

After a hearty breakfast and the pre-trek briefing, we embark on our journey to Kilimanjaro National Park Gate, which is approximately a 1-hour drive from Moshi. Upon arrival, we register and begin the climb. The trail leads us through the lush rainforest to the Mandara encampment. Along the way, we may opt for a side trip to Maundi Crater for stunning views of Northern Tanzania and Kenya. Keep an eye out for towering Eucalyptus trees, diverse birdlife, and playful Colobus monkeys amidst the rainforest canopy.

Day 3: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut Kilimanjaro Mountain

We bid farewell to the rainforest and ascend through the open moorlands towards the Horombo encampment. The journey offers panoramic views of Mawenzi and the majestic summit of Kibo. Keep an eye out for towering lobelias and impressive grounsels amidst the alpine scenery. As we gain altitude, you may begin to notice the effects of the elevation.

Day 4: Rest Day at Horombo Hut Kilimanjaro Mountain

Today is designated as a rest day at Horombo Hut, offering an opportunity to acclimatize to the altitude. You may opt for an optional hike near Mawenzi Peak to further explore the surrounding area.

Day 5: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut Kilimanjaro

Continuing our ascent, we pass the last watering point and traverse the saddle between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi. The landscape transitions into a rugged alpine desert as we approach Kibo Hut. Here, we prepare for the final push towards the summit.

Day 6: Kibo Hut to Summit to Horombo Hut Kilimanjaro mountain

In the early hours of the morning, we commence the summit climb, ascending steep scree or snow to reach Gilman's Point on the crater rim. From there, we continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Enjoy breathtaking views before descending to Kibo Hut for lunch. Afterward, we descend further to the Horombo encampment for a well-deserved rest.

Day 7: Horombo Hut to Moshi Kilimanjaro

Following breakfast, we descend through the moorland to Mandara Hut and continue through lush forest to Marangu gate. A vehicle will be waiting to transfer you back to your hotel in Moshi, where you can reflect on the incredible journey.
