Tour Plan

DAY 1 TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, meet your experienced safari guide in Arusha for a short briefing before setting off toward Tarangire.

The journey itself offers the first glimpse into rural Tanzania, with villages, farmland and changing landscapes gradually giving way to the wilderness.

Enter Tarangire National Park in the afternoon and begin your photographic drive. Your guide will focus on finding not only wildlife but also compelling compositions—animals framed against baobabs, herds moving through open grassland and details of the landscape that tell the story of Tarangire.

The park's elephants are a particular highlight. Spend time observing their behaviour rather than simply photographing them as subjects. Your guide will help position the vehicle where possible to make use of the available light and background.

As afternoon turns toward evening, the softer light creates opportunities for silhouettes, backlit wildlife and warm environmental portraits.

Return to camp after the golden-hour drive for dinner and an evening beneath the African sky.

Main Destination: Tarangire National Park

Accommodation: Ang’ata Tarangire Camp

Meals & Drinks: Lunch, Dinner & Drinking water

DAY 2 CENTRAL SERENGETI

Begin the morning with your safari guide for one final opportunity to photograph Tarangire in the soft early light. After breakfast, depart the park and continue west toward the Serengeti ecosystem.

The journey becomes increasingly scenic as woodland landscapes give way to enormous open plains. Your guide will make strategic stops when the surrounding landscape creates worthwhile photographic opportunities.

As you approach Central Serengeti, begin an en-route game drive. The Seronera region is an important wildlife area and can provide opportunities for lions, leopards, cheetahs and large herbivore herds.

Today also marks the beginning of your migration-focused journey. Your guide will monitor recent wildlife movements and information from the field to help determine the most promising direction for the following days.

Arrive at your camp in the late afternoon and enjoy your first evening surrounded by the sounds of the Serengeti.

Main Destination: Central Serengeti

Accommodation: Shuhudia Adventure Camp

Meals & Drinks: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner & Drinking water

DAY 3 NORTHERN SERENGETI

Today, the expedition moves north.

After an early breakfast, meet your safari guide and begin the journey toward Northern Serengeti. The drive is not simply about reaching the next camp. Your guide will remain alert to the changing landscape and wildlife activity, stopping when interesting photographic opportunities appear along the way.

As you travel north, the Serengeti gradually becomes more rugged, with rocky outcrops, river systems and taller grasses appearing across the landscape.

This is where the Great Migration becomes the focus.

Depending on the herds' location at the time of travel, you may encounter large concentrations of wildebeest and zebra moving across the plains. Your guide will use local knowledge, recent sightings and animal behaviour to determine where to spend your time.

Arrive in Northern Serengeti and settle into camp.

If conditions allow, head out for an afternoon exploration, keeping an eye on the horizon for large moving herds.

Main Destination: Northern Serengeti

Accommodation: Mara Kati Kati Tented Lodge

Meals & Drinks: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner & Drinking water

DAY 4 NORTHERN SERENGETI

Rise before sunrise and head out with your safari guide. The timing and direction of the day will depend heavily on where the herds are located and how they are behaving.

Your guide will monitor the landscape for signs of movement—large concentrations of wildebeest, gathering herds, dust clouds and animal trails leading toward water.

If the migration is positioned near the Mara River, you may spend extended periods in the area waiting for the herds to approach a crossing point. This is where patience becomes part of the photographic experience.

A crossing cannot be scheduled like a normal safari activity. Herds may approach the river and retreat several times before eventually crossing, or they may cross elsewhere entirely. Your guide's knowledge of the area will be invaluable in choosing where to wait while ensuring the experience remains respectful and safe.

If a crossing occurs, the photographic possibilities can be extraordinary—wildebeest entering the water, animals navigating the current, crocodiles waiting along the banks and hundreds of animals moving together.

If the herds do not cross during your visit, the day remains valuable. Northern Serengeti offers opportunities for herd photography, predator encounters, river landscapes and dramatic African scenery.

Arrive at your camp in the late afternoon and enjoy your evening surrounded by the sounds of the Serengeti.

Main Destination: Northern Serengeti

Accommodation: Mara Kati Kati Tented Lodge

Meals & Drinks: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner & Drinking water

DAY 5 NGORONGORO HIGHLANDS

After breakfast, your safari guide will lead you on one final morning exploration of Northern Serengeti.

The morning light offers a final opportunity to photograph wildlife before leaving the migration region. Continue south through the Serengeti, enjoying the changing scenery as the open plains gradually transition toward the Ngorongoro highlands.

Along the way, your guide will remain alert for unexpected wildlife encounters, giving you opportunities to capture the final frames of the Serengeti portion of the expedition.

By afternoon, reach the crater rim and pause to take in the immense volcanic landscape below.

The photographic story changes here—from moving herds and wildlife behaviour to dramatic landscapes, misty forests and vast crater panoramas.

Your guide will help you make the most of the available light before continuing to your accommodation.

Enjoy a relaxed evening and prepare your equipment for an early crater descent tomorrow.

Main Destination: Ngorongoro Highlands

Accommodation: Ngorongoro Wild Camp

Meals & Drinks: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner & Drinking water

DAY 6 NGORONGORO CRATER

Rise early and meet your safari guide for the descent into the Ngorongoro Crater. As the morning light spreads across the crater floor, begin your final wildlife photography session.

Your guide will carefully navigate the crater while watching for opportunities to photograph lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos and hyenas. With luck, you may also encounter the endangered black rhinoceros.

The enclosed nature of the crater creates an entirely different photographic environment from the Serengeti. Here, wildlife can often be photographed against the dramatic backdrop of the crater walls and open grasslands. Take time with your final subjects rather than rushing from one sighting to another. Your guide will help identify moments where behaviour, light and landscape come together.

Enjoy a picnic lunch before ascending from the crater.

Continue toward Arusha, where your safari guide/driver will transfer you to your hotel or Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), depending on your departure arrangements.

Your photographic journey ends with a collection of images spanning Tarangire's elephants, Serengeti's endless plains, the Great Migration and the ancient Ngorongoro landscape.
